Bharti Patil, the famous Marathi actor who will be seen in Sony’s new show Sukh By Chance, is contemplating buying a room in a chawl.
Last seen in Jassuben Jayantilal Ki Joint Family, Bharti has spent most of her life in Laxmibagh Chawl in Sion. She is now thinking of purchasing a small room in the chawl where she has spent her childhood days.
Patil says, “I used to live in Laxmibagh Chawl which is near Sion station. I have spent six years of my childhood there after which we shifted to a big house. But whenever there’s any function or a festival, we all used to go there and celebrate”.
“I started my career in 1992 and most of my movies were nominated for the National Award. But I was never ever treated like a celebrity in my area. Whenever I got an opportunity I used to visit the place with my family. I was very tomboyish and everyone there would call me Bharat which is the norm even today”, she adds.
She goes on to say, “My brother used to stay there but due to some unavoidable circumstances he had to sell the house and shifted to Badlapur. I am so emotionally attached to the locality that I now stay at Antop Hill just to be close to the area”.
Patil has designs to buy her same old house if possible, otherwise she will settle in another pad falling in the same area.
She voices, “Many think that people dwelling in chawls are not educated, their children are not good and so on. But there are some from the chawls who have achieved a lot. I know so many of my childhood friends who are now doctors, engineers and architects.”
Here is one actor who seems to love her roots and is proud of it.
