Actress Asin Thottumkal hospitalised

Mumbai, Actress Asin Thottumkal, who’s lately been working round-the-clock, has been admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital here following an acute sinus condition.

The “Ghajini” fame actress was admitted Monday morning. She was taken to Kokilaben hospital because it’s close to her home in Andheri.

Though the actress herself was unavailable for comment, her father, who was with her in the hospital, told IANS: “Yes she’s in hospital. Nothing to worry about. All this is part of the process of my daughter’s growing up.”

Asin is expected to be out after treatment in a couple of days. But the news of her hospitalisation on Eid was being whispered behind closed doors. Some said she was admitted after suffering from acute exhaustion.

“Asin was admitted to the Dhirubhai hospital… not for exhaustion but an acute sinus condition. She had been neglecting the condition for quite some time now. But now the sinus situation had to be attended to. But she was in great spirits, her usual chirpy and friendly self singing even as her treatment was being done,” said a source close to Asin.

Her condition got aggravated because of the night shooting for “London Dreams”.

“She had no choice but to get into the hospital to have the condition treated. She waited until Eid when there was break from work,” said the source.

In Bollywood, big fish eat little fish: Zayed Khan

In Bollywood, big fish eat little fish: Zayed Khan

Mumbai, Actor Zayed Khan says he is learning “the hard way”. He was supposed to sing and dance to a solo number in the film “Blue”, but was shocked to be informed that he would not be the only one to feature in it.

The same song has been turned into a group number and is being shot with Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Katrina Kaif and, of course, Zyed in the film by Tony D’Souza.

“I’m learning my lessons the hard way. In this industry it’s always the big fish eating up the little fish (an apt description considering our film ‘Blue’ is an underwater sea adventure). Fine. Hopefully, one day I’ll get there,” said Zayed, who is shooting in Delhi for “Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene”.

“But when I do I can assure I won’t behave the same way. But no more being taken for granted. I can’t afford it,” he added.

As for not participating in the number, he said: “I was thinking of not participating in the shooting. If I am not considered important enough, no point in hanging around. But then I decided to be professional about this. I’m flying from Delhi to Mumbai for the song.”

Zayed, however, absolves the “Blue” director of all blame.

D’Souza says, “Yes, we’re shooting a song with the entire cast next week. I’d really like Zayed to be part of it. Because he’s a very important and pivotal part of ‘Blue’. This film will take him to another level.”

Anupam Kher invited to speak at Cambridge University

After having put Bollywood on the global map with his impeccable acting skills, the legendary actor Anupam Kher has come a long way since his Saaransh days. On the international front, after having worked with the likes of the Hollywood greats Ang Lee and Woody Allen, Anupam has now been invited by the prestigious Cambridge University to give a talk on 'How to Build and Orchestrate Trans-National Creative Networks'. And today, with Cambridge University inviting me to deliver a lecture there, only means that Bollywood has ultimately arrived and how! Not just that, this also reflects the philosophy of my play 'Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai', that nothing is impossible."

Anupam Kher, it's not just Bollywood, but also Bollywood Hungama that is equally proud of you and your achievements.

Awards don’t matter for Aftab Shivdasani

Awards don’t matter for Aftab Shivdasani

Mast boy Aftab Shivdasani has come a long way in the industry. He is through with the roller coaster ride of ten years in the meanest industry. He gets candid in an interview and talks about his journey so far, and shares his future plans.

Why do you want to turn producer?

One of the reasons is that I want to do films of my type and secondly I liked the script.

So will you be working with establishes directors or newcomers?

I would want to work with established directors like Rakyesh Mehra and Raju Hirani.

Are you satisfied with your graph so far?

Little more success was welcomed. All the films that released in 2008 irrespective of their box office results satisfy me as an actor, as each character is different from other. As far as the whole career is concerned, I agree I did make a few wrong choices of films. As wisdom dawn upon me little late, I now look for quality not quantity, in fact what I then thought was quality turned out to be quantity.

So what made you take up Daddy Cool?

I always wanted to do a crazy role. As that’s the part of my personality, I am very laid-back about my looks and attire. I got to do something that I can closely relate to so I grabbed it.

Are you disappointed for Aloo Chat not doing well?

It was a family centric film. I am glad that people are watching it on satellite and it is making money. But had it been watched in multiplexes when it released, it would have benefited actors too.

Anuj said once that you and Amna did not promote his film Aloo Chat well?

One has to point finger at someone so he must have told this. He will not take the blame on himself. Otherwise there are so many reasons for a film to not work.

Would you do any award winning film?

What is the definition of an award winning performance? Most of them who win according to me do not deserve. Awards are not important to me, but are just another feather in my cap.

Aamir got attention with the Narmada controversy

Aamir got attention with the Narmada controversy

Shabana Azmi in a vitriolic attack on the fascist forces supported Aamir by stating that why does film personalities' role in the society ought to be limited to Aids awareness campaigns or doing shows for calamity victims. Shatrughan Sinha on his part chided Khan by saying that the Lagaan star shouldn't have taken a stand without doing his homework. In spite of huge support and opposition, Aamir Khan didn't bend.
