Ab Shaadi Ke Side Effects

E-mail

Two years after the sleeper-hit Pyar Ke Side Effects hit the screen and won itself a sizeable fan following, the film's producers Pritish Nandy Communications are finally ready to hit the floors with a sequel.

Entitled Shaadi Ke Side Effects the story, written by Saket Chowdary, continues the seemingly endless saga of the suburban male dude's commitment phobia from where it left off in Pyar Ke Side Effects (PKSE).

Daddy-phobe

Revealing details, Chowdhary who has just wrapped up the script says, "While PKSE was about commitment-phobia, Shaadi Ke Side Effects is about what happens to the now-committed man after marriage. This time, he is paranoid about becoming a father.

According to producer Pritish Nandy, director Saket Chowdhary has spent nearly three years of his life carrying the story forward. "This kind of commitment is what we need to make follow-ups, sequels and any continuing series, work without compromise. We hope to make Shaadi Ke Side Effects even sassier than Pyar Ke Side Effects."

Saket seems to think he's being unnecessarily being made to seem like a creative martyr. "If I chose to devote myself to Shaadi Ke Side Effects it's because I wanted to further explore the dynamics of the man-woman relationship in an urban setting. I had another writer scripting the film. But I wasn't satisfied. I scrapped what had been written and started from scratch."

The first part was easy. Now comes the uphill task.

My experiences

Laughs Saket, "For Pyar… I borrowed a lot of details from my friends and my own life.

We all go through commitment panic. A lot of what you saw Rahul Bose express was mine. So in many ways that was an autobiographical character. But in Shaadi… I have to go purely by what I hear and see. I'm not married. I've no first-hand experience of what happens between married couples"

The Rahul-Mallika cast will be changed in the sequel. While Rahul Bose has already expressed his reluctance to carry on with the story; Mallika says Saket, doesn't suit the wife's role. Shaadi Ke Side Effects goes on the floors early 2008.

Better believe it

The word 'shaadi' has never been lucky for Hindi films. Apart from David Dhawan's Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, all films with the word, have failed. Examples: Shaadi, Shaadi Ke Baad, Shaadi Se Pehle, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.
